Phuket

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island. The island offers plenty of opportunities for a relaxing holiday.

Phuket is split into several large tourist areas: Pathong, Kata, Karon and Phuket town.

Generally as a tourist in Phuket you don’t need to miss anything from home. Phuket has more or less anything you can imagine in terms of shops, bars and restaurants as well as those you find at home. Unfortunately, this has influenced the Thai life on the island. You go far between the little street stall and the quiet, cozy Thai restaurant but in return you find anything a holiday resort can offer.

From Phuket there are excellent opportunities to do all forms of water sports and activities on water, from Jet Ski and parasailing to sailing trips and diving. A sailing trip to the Phi Phi Island or the James Bond Island is highly recommended.

North of Phuket is Khao Lak. In Khao Lak you find many waterfalls and beautiful nature. The Khao Lak area was the area hardest hit by the Tsunami on the 26th of December 2004.

Even so short a time after the catastrophe it is impressive how far the area has returned to how it was previously. However, the catastrophe will hang as a shadow over the area for some time.
