Koh Samui

For many years Koh Samui has been known as a good holiday destination. Would you like to lie in the shade of a coconut palm? Here you find plenty of opportunities as the coconut palms are the most common trees on the island.

You also find many excellent beaches on Koh Samui. Most of the beaches you find on the eastside of the island, but on the Westside of the island you also find a couple of good ones. The best of these is called Lamai but depending on the weather this can be a bit of a disappointment as the beach may seem a little “chaotic”.

Chaweng is clearly the busiest beach on the island but this is also where you find most of the business life. The price level is generally high on Koh Samui compared to other places in Thailand, so it is recommended that you shop the large things in say Bangkok before or after your visit to the island.

From Koh Samui, it is recommended taking a day to Ang-thong National Park. You can snorkel and explore – you will have a memory for life.

North of Koh Samui lies Koh Phangnan, mostly known for its full moon parties – a relic from the hippie era but which still take place today and then of course there is the paradise island Koh Tao.

There are good connections to Koh Samui partly via the island’s airport, owned and controlled by Bangkok Airways, and partly by sailing to the island either from Surathani or from Chumphon.
