Ayutthaya

- The trip from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, the old capital of Thailand, by car may take up to 2 hours. The city was a man-made island surrounded by rivers on all sides. The east side of the “Island”, you find a “modern” city, whereas, the west side, you find the old town with numerous palaces, ruins, and parks.

When the city surrendered to the Burmese in 1762, it was left to Mother Nature for many years; however, today it is protected by UNESCO which uses many resources to renovate the city. The Queen of Thailand is similarly a driving force in restoring the old capital so that tourists and Thai people can enjoy visiting this place for a long time.

You find BangPa Inn palace, an old royal summer palace, which isnot far from Ayutthaya. This place was built during the Ayutthaya period. The palace covers an area of about 150 –175 acres with around 30 different styles of buildings, and the majority of these were built around great lakes and rivers. The entire area has beautiful gardens with sculptures and large green lawns in abundance. Do wear polite clothes if you would like to visit the palace! The palace is furthermore still visited by the Thai royal family
